    FAIR WEAR

"The Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) is a non-profit organization that, together with its member companies and other partners such as trade unions, NGOs, factories, business associations and governments, pursues a clear goal: to improve working conditions in the clothing industry.

In order to create long-term solutions, the FWF works at different levels: it regularly reviews, evaluates and reports publicly on the progress of the member companies. These include on the one hand controls in the production facilities on site as well as interviews with workers. On the other hand, the FWF also reviews the business practices of the companies and their influence on the working conditions in the production facilities.

    FWF APPROACH

There is no single solution to tackling injustice in the workplace. There are many solutions and we at the FWF believe that the effect is greatest when they are sensibly combined with one another. Therefore, with our approach, we combine the key components that are necessary for a fundamental change. In this way, we help companies to work step by step on improving working conditions in their supply chains.

Our main focus is on the production phases, with the sewing work being the focus. For one simple reason: These are among the most labor-intensive steps in the production process. So it is hardly surprising that many problems with working conditions arise, especially in this phase. It is precisely here that effective remedial measures can have a positive impact on the lives of millions of workers.

GOTS - Global Organic Textile Standard

"The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognized as the world's leading standard for the processing of textiles made from organically produced natural fibers. It defines environmental requirements along the entire textile production chain at a high level and at the same time demands compliance with social criteria.

Only textile products that consist of at least 70% organically produced natural fibers can be certified according to GOTS. All chemical additives used, such as B. dyes and auxiliaries must meet certain environmental and toxicological criteria. Corresponding requirements also apply to the use of accessories. A functional wastewater treatment plant is mandatory for all facilities that are active in the wet processing sector. All processing plants must meet minimum social criteria.

    Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX

If a textile article has been awarded the STANDARD 100 label, you can rest assured that all components of this article, including all threads, buttons and other accessories, have been tested for harmful substances and that the article is therefore harmless to health. The test is carried out by our independent OEKO-TEX® institutes on the basis of our extensive OEKO-TEX® criteria catalog. In the test procedure, they take into account numerous regulated and non-regulated substances that could be harmful to human health.

    For consumers

With the new “PETA-Approved Vegan” logo, consumers will in future be able to identify at a glance those products for which no animal has suffered. This makes the purchase decision a lot easier for ethically motivated people.
